Women at Work Campaign
Discrimination against women at work is rife and happens in all areas of work... from bar work to barrister, sexism in the workplace is an issue that affects all women.

Many thanks to Amicus the union for kindly supporting this campaign.
Petitions
There are two petitions running – the Further Education (FE) one and the Higher Education (HE) one.
Further Education: we are running a national petition for the highest rate of the National Minimum Wage to apply to all age groups.
Download your FE Petition here.
Higher Education: we are running a national petition for Mandatory Pay Audits to be made the law in the public and private sector.
Download your HE petition here.
[Welsh versions of the petitions will appear here shortly.]
These two things – when they are done – will make a massive impact on the pay gap that exists still between women and men. The mean average gender pay gap is 17.1% for full-time work, and a massive 38.5% for part-time work.
Please return your petitions to NUS Women's Unit.
National Action
Before December 2007 we will be delivering our petitions to Downing Street altogether so make sure you get as many signatures as you can!
There will also be lots of national lobbying going on in the run up to the Labour leadership contest and in the run up to the next general election.
Goody Bags
NUS Women’s Campaign has put together some Rights at Work Goody Bags for your women students!
They contain information about their rights as women in the workplace, and about how part time student workers can stand up for their rights at work.
The information comes in a handy bag, so we’re suggesting that you hold your goody bag stall outside your next Careers Fair (where students will need a bag to put all the leaflets/flyers they pick up in) – and make sure you get them to sign the petition too!
N.B. The Goody Bags will be ready by the end of April, but you’re welcome to get in your orders in advance!
Because of high demand for these bags (the campaign is proving very popular!) we are having to limit orders to 50 bags per union maximum.
Other Materials

There are also two posters and bookmarks (to accompany the Goody Bags and the petitions) that you can order and put up around your union or college – or decorate a stall with whilst you campaign. There is an order form at the end of this article.
