Upcoming London event:
BACKLASH: The hidden war on women in the UK
Wednesday 1st November 6-10pm @ Amnesty International UK, Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA
This free event is organised by the Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) as part of their ‘Why Women?’ campaign. It will be an evening of pioneering, groundbreaking films and inspiring, passionate speakers about women’s lives in the UK. It aims to raise awareness of the hidden discrimination and violence against women in the UK, the invaluable work of women’s organisations, and what can be done to challenge gender inequality.
Films to be shown include ‘Real Love’ (Amnesty International UK), ‘Love, Honour and Disobey’ (Southall Black Sisters), and ‘Sold Feelings’ (The Poppy Project and The Women’s Library). Speakers will include Liz Kelly, Chair of the End Violence against Women Campaign & Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit, Beatriz Concejo from Object, and Yeppi Yebbo from new feminist magazine Verge.
