Busted
Concessionary bus travel campaign
NUS have launched a new campaign, Busted, to fight for concessionary bus travel for all students. We believe that access to public transport and buses in particular is essential to ensure that as many people can access education as possible, whether in further or higher education. We are calling on the government and local authorities to implement concessionary schemes for students and to make sure that any existing schemes are not jeopardised by new legislation (currently going through parliament in this bill) that may force them to move funds elsewhere. You can read more about the issue in this briefing Take action! You can get involved in this campaign by contacting your local MP and council to tell them what you think. Getting in touch with local decision-makers will really make the difference to winning this campaign. Below you will find adaptable model letters to an MP and councillor, along with a short guide to lobbying your council. You will also find logos and resources that you can use to create your own campaign materials.Find and email your councillor now.(You can use the text from the letters below, remember to add your name and institution!)
