The future of the NUS Co-operative Housing Project

For the last four years NUS has been an instigator and partner in a co-operative student-housing pilot in Manchester. NUS annual conference has passed policy on this including…

“NUS must oppose PFI’s and examine alternatives such as co-operative housing” 2003

“To support the student co-operative housing project in Manchester.”
“To support a vision of students accommodation with low rents, unique design, sustainable development, democratic involvement and community spirit.”
“To work with the VP Welfare and Manchester Students Unions to help this pilot get off the ground as way of working towards this vision.”
2005

However we are now at a real crossroads in terms of the project, and taking it forward.
