Training available on bullying and harassment

image

Unipol training and NUS are organising a 'Dealing with bulling and harassment' event to be held on Tuesday 11 March in Leeds.

This conference is one of the first conferences specifically organised to address dealing with bullying and harassment in student accommodation.

Research undertaken by NUS in 2006/07 showed some disturbing statistics:

  • 62.9 per cent of students in higher education felt that they had been a victim of bullying or harassment while at university
  • 15 per cent said they had been bullied by a flatmate
  • 32 per cent said the bullying had gone on for over a year.

This agenda brings together those who have recognised that bullying and harassment are real issues for students and tenants in colleges and universities. It seeks to discuss what has worked, and what hasn't, and how campaigns and policies to protect students can be implemented.

The event will focus on the sharing of good practice by students' unions and universities.

There is a special reduced rate of £85.00 per person to students' union representatives, however, spaces are limited and this will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

For further information and details of how to book on to this please see www.unipol.org.uk/training or call 0113 2053404. Alternatively email conferences@unipol.ac.uk.
