Action through advocacy Audience
This course is directed at education and welfare officers with responsibility for defending, extending and promoting the rights of students.
Aims
To develop education and welfare officers that represent their students through campaigning and taking action – moving away from the advice centre/counselling approach of years gone by.
Course objectives
By the end of the course officers will be able to
- Identify the collective issues that are affecting the students
- Mobilise students into educational activists through injustice injection
- Recognise the different tools at their disposal when creating change for their students
- Have developed an action plan for a local campaign
The 2008 course is part of the summer training programme.
