National train the trainer This course is directed at those responsible for the learning and development agenda in your students’ union. It will benefit coordinators of training schemes and student development and may be a staff member or officer.
Aims
This course aims to provide tools and resources necessary to run peer-to-peer training programmes whilst facilitating the knowledge base regarding learning styles, dealing with difficult trainees, implementation and developing training programmes.
Course objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Define training, discuss its benefits and identify situations where training is most appropriate
- Identify the role, skills and qualities necessary to be an effective trainer
- Define accelerated learning and develop techniques for its use
- Coordinate training methods and learning styles, identifying suitable games for use in different training situations
- Identify different styles of behaviour and apply techniques for positive participant engagement.
- Apply techniques for presenting information and identify the most appropriate preparation techniques
- Understand the communication cycle.
The emphasis of this course will be for colleagues to return to their students’ union with the necessary training skills, knowledge and full access to officeronline for the resources and toolkits in order to train your own trainers.
This year's course will be on 8-10 September 2008 in Leicester.
