NUS also offers in-house training at your students' union. Find out more here.
The Membership Development Unit is responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating a wide range of initiatives which all member students’ unions/associations are welcome to attend and participate in.
We aim to offer a training experience that is inclusive of each individual’s learning style to ensure maximum learning for all. Within each training course, we offer varied activities that allow participants to absorb information in their own way and then apply their learning to real life scenarios. So whether you like to listen, absorb and discuss information, reflect and think through ideas, or participate in a hands-on learning experience, there will be something for you at all of our courses. We also include time to review and reflect upon what you have learned in order to aid long-term retention and to help you to prepare for your year ahead.
Membership Development is responsible for creating and delivering a wide range of learning and development initiatives to officers and we work closely with AMSU and NUSSL to broaden our training remit and now deliver programmes to staff and volunteers within students’ unions.
The training programmes offered are one of the few services that members pay for in addition to their affiliation fee. The programmes are run on a break-even basis whereby the cost of attending the training course will cover the incurred expenditure from running it. This includes venue hire, all training documentation including workbooks, handouts and all resources required to complete the course, accreditation submission costs (where applicable), travel for external speakers to attend and run sessions, and full board accommodation for residential events.
