Wanna raise some money?
Dear All
Following feedback from unions at our events, resolutions at Annual Conference and conversations with many of you, we are working up a strategy to build the capacity of local unions to raise money from funds, trusts and grant making bodies.
There is a widely held perception that there is "money out there" and that impending formal recognition of official charity status for unions will help- what we are now looking at is how we can best support unions to take advantage of these opportunities.
The package of support we are looking at would involve
free (to member unions) seminar events for officers, managers and staff covering key issues and opportunities
a library of materials and successful bids
the opportunity to send staff on a bespoke, discounted 3-4 day intensive course on fundraising designed especially for unions that would likely lead top a qualification for participants
As we do the scoping exercise this month, it would be very useful if we had an indication from unions that would be interested particularly in the training/course element above. Clearly you would need full detail to make a final decision but an indication of interested numbers at this stage would be great.
Any other feedback on the concept would also be welcome. Please feed back to jim@nus.org.uk
