NUS Democracy & Governance Day

Democratic participation is a key student activity at the heart of the structure of all students' unions. Involvement in democracy, be that on campus, or in local and national elections, provides a simple but important way of engaging students with their union, local community, and national government. NUS will be addressing this issue as a central part of the Strong & Active Unions campaign by running a Democracy Day.
Issues around Apathy, Involvement and Fairness will all be considered, and there will be a chance to network with others in the students’ union movement by discussing how to widen and deepen democratic participation within students’ unions, as well as in local and national elections.
Delegates will also receive the NUS Democracy Toolkit, the essential resource for driving up participation over the coming months. This event is aimed at student officers and students’ union staff involved in supporting democratic participation in unions. The cost will be £20 for HE delegates and £15 for FE delegate with lunch included.
