Rally for Zimbabwean women
NUS is supporting the ACTSA (Action for Southern Africa) rally for dignity and democracy to be held in London on 8 March. Held on International Women’s Day, the event aims to highlight poor conditions for women in Zimbabwe.
The rally will feature a range of high profile speakers including Lucia Matibenga, Vice President of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, as well as music, videos and the chance to learn more about the campaign. Kat Stark – National Women’s Officer and co-convenor of the Society and Citizenship zone - will also be speaking.
Starting at 12pm in Trafalgar Square, the rally will be followed by a vigil outside the Zimbabwe embassy at 2pm and the Million Women Rise Rally in Trafalgar Square at 3.30pm.
Join us in Trafalgar Square, London, which will be packed with thousands of women, trade unionists, Zimbabweans and ACTSA supporters, all calling for:
- The right to dignity and freedom from violence for the women of Zimbabwe
- Free and fair elections in Zimbabwe
- International solidarity to support the struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe.
