What’s stopping you volunteering?
As part of the government’s youth affairs agenda, the Morgan Inquiry is looking into young adult volunteering and, more specifically, the barriers to 18-24 year olds engaging in volunteer work.
As the national voice of students, NUS believes that students’ unions, as student-led and student-governed organisations, are central to volunteering and student engagement in further and higher education but also recognises that there are many barriers in the way for students.
NUS has submitted a report to the Inquiry, highlighting these barriers – such as the need for many students to do paid work rather than voluntary work – which prevent students from volunteering in their community.
