The kids are taking over...

The Parent Trap LobbyCommittee room one of the Scottish Parliament was taken over yesterday by student parents and their children calling on MSPs to support the NUS Scotland Parent Trap Campaign for a fairer funding system for student parents.

The event received cross party support, and now over one third of MSPs have signed up to the campaign.

The Parent Trap was started in 2008 following a crisis in childcare discretionary funds which saw large numbers of student parents forced to drop out of their courses.

Recent success has seen the Scottish Government announce an extra £2million for childcare funds from this year on, and the commitment to a review of childcare funds which is currently under way. But there's always more work to do! For more information contact Kainde Manji, Women's Officer or go to the Parent Trap Website.
