University, is it worth it?

In 2009 the Government are reviewing university fees for UK students. Some Universities are pushing for them to lift the cap and open the door to fees of £15,000 a year. Others are pushing for a review of the whole system.

Sheffield Union have brought together the best line-up of speakers outside London to debate the future of university funding:

  • Bill Rammell - the Labour Minister for Higher Education
  • Baroness Verma - a Conservative Shadow Higher Education Minister
  • Wes Streeting - NUS President-elect
  • Professor Keith Burnett - Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield
  • Professor Rick Trainor - Head of Universities UK (which speaks for all UK Universities)

The panel will be chaired by John O'Leary, the former editor of The Times Higher.

This is where to hear what the key players think about university funding and for students to let them know their views.
