To ensure university increased facilities in kitchens which had been reduced due to new fire regulations. We convinced the university to improve kitchen facilities and pay students compensation. our Porters - to ensure more porters were employed and lodges which had temporarily closed opened again for 24 hours a day. University of York

YUSU ran a campaign to 'Save the porters' in 2007, when the University had a staffing shortage and were forced to close some of the Porters' lodges on campus during the night.

The aim of the campaign was to highlight to University admin how important the Porters are to both Staff and Students a like, and the crucial welfare service they play in University life.

YUSU succeeded and the University returned to a full staff compliment across all college Receptions.
