Wolves sabb team and their wall of debtAdded on 19/05/2008 A great, quick and cheap way to raise awareness and promote any education funding events that you are hosting this year. Funding Debate at Sheffield University UnionAdded on 14/05/2008 Sheffield University Union play host to a higher education funding debate, 15 May 2008 19:30 - 21:00, at the Union Auditorium.
University, is it worth it? In 2009 the Government are reviewing university fees for UK students. Some Universities are pushing for them to lift the cap and open the door to fees of £15,000 a year. Others are pushing for a review of the whole system. Sheffield Union have brought together the best line-up of speakers outside London to debate the future of university funding: The panel will be chaired by John O'Leary, the former editor of The Times Higher. This is where to hear what the key players think about university funding and for students to let them know their views. Education funding campaign evaluationAdded on 23/04/2008 We need your feedback on the first stage of the campaign. How was this year for you? Do you feel we as a movement have made much progress this year? What activities do you want to see next year? Have your say by taking part in this short survey. The results of the survey will be used to inform campaign planning for the year ahead and we will be publishing a summary of the results on the website. Latest actions for the education funding campaignAdded on 17/04/2008 ![]() In this the final term of the year we are asking you to lobby your local council to set up a scrutiny committee to investingate the contribution that students make to your local area. A good relationship with your council can help you with many other issues such as studentification, crime, safety and welfare. The recognition of students as stakeholders in the community is an important legacy that you can leave your student union. By establishing a scrutiny panel you can contribute to the national agenda in a critical way, as committees can look at the impact that any increase in fees would have upon institutions and the area or investigate any other concerns that you have such as housing provision. This activity may well get you brownie points with your institution too, so let them know what you're up to. Good luck with your campaigning and let NUS know what response you get. Fighting Fees: Minister for Higher Education ChallengedAdded on 15/04/2008 The funding debate, Monday 21st April at Leeds University Union saw Bill Rammell face questions and challenges from students from the North East.
With some universities lobbying to increase the cap on top-up fees, it is vital that Bill Rammell hears your views on the future funding of higher education sector. The Minister for Higher Education attended Leeds University Union the turn out was excellent as the minister was confronted with the experiences of ordinary students. Debates such as this demonstrate that the future of the higher education is a question for society not one to be determined behind closed doors. Agenda of the day 2:00pm - A NEYAH campaign meeting: activists and officers should come to discuss plans of actions for next year, within their unions, regional action and how this coincides with what is going on nationally. 3:00pm - Demo activity starts outside the union. The demo was complemented by stalls with petitions and info that people could take away with them. The demo then greated the minster. 4:30pm -6:30pm - The debate took place with Bill Rammell, member of the UCU, James Panton from Oxford, Wes Streeting, NUS Vice President (Education) and Nick Small from Liverpool city council. |
