NUS International Students' 'Leave to Remain' Survey results

324 international students took part in the NUS flash survey on the proposal to increase leave to remain charges. Here are the results:

If the Home Office increased the 'leave to remain' charges* to between £230 and £350, what impact would that have on you?
* what you pay to extend your visa

A serious impact. I might not be able to stay, I can't afford it. 65.1%

A medium impact. I would have to work some more to pay for that charge. 29.3%

No impact. It's a relatively small price to pay to be able to stay in the UK and pursue my studies. 5.6%

When prompted for a quote:

16.7% thought they were already paying expensive tuition fees

13.6% thought the charge was too expensive

12.3% thought the new charge was unfair

NUS will use these results to combat the charges.
