National Executive Report and Plan 2006/07

The National Executive Report and Plan is central to the democracy of the National Union.

This document is constantly updated by the NEC over the course of the year for regional and national conferences and serves to outline the work we have carried out, and are planning to carry out for the rest of the year.

The report and plan details all of our work and is divided into four zones, Strong and Active Unions, Education, Welfare and Student Rights, and Society and Citizenship. These zones reflect the way that policy is submitted and debated at Annual Conference so you can see which mandates from conference have been fulfilled, and which still need to be carried out. Note that, whilst four zones are debated at conference, further education is treated as a separate zone in allocating responsibilities.

The report and plan is one of many ways you can hold your national officers to account, so make sure you read it and ask any questions of the NEC about the work they are doing.

Different areas of work and responsibilities have been put into the zone which best reflects the title of the zone. Individual officers’ responsibilities are allocated into zones, and ongoing areas of work have also been slotted into appropriate zones. The Liberation Campaigns will be kept separate from the four zones as they submit, debate, and pass their own autonomous policy. The mandates from each of the campaign conferences will also be included before each liberation section.

The responsibilities of each member of the National Executive, and which zone their work falls under, are listed at the front of this document for your information.

As usual the work of the National Union is varied and wide ranging, and we thank all the staff within the organisation for their continued dedication and immense commitment to NUS.
