Sabbatical work/life balance surveyThis year, after a response from you, NUS has decided to undertake a nationwide survey on sabbatical work life balance. We understand and sympathise the differentials between students’ union officers with regarding working hours, pay and working conditions. NUS believes strongly that Sabbatical officer’s must be valued by their institution, we believe institutions must begin to recognize the value and impact that a healthy, motivated sabbatical team can have on it’s year in office.
The campaign will work in two stages; firstly we will conduct a nationwide survey asking you to answer pay-related and work/life balance questions in order for us to develop a picture of the situation across the UK. We want to know whether similar institutions have huge differences in numbers of sabbaticals, pay scales and time commitments.
The second stage will consist of a report, detailing the results of the survey into a document bursting with arguments and statistics that you can use in order to lobby your institutions for more sabbaticals, increase in block grants and a commitment to ensuring fair work/life balance commitments. Furthermore we will begin to pressure UUK and the AOC into signing up to a sabbatical work/life balance agreement designed with the stats you give us in mind.
