Read the NUS Briefing on 14-19 Curricum Change
This briefing was initially written before the publication of the Interim Tomlinson Report. It sketches out the Government policy background on a 14-19 curriculum preceding the Tomlinson Report. The long awaited DfES White Paper on the 14-19 Curriculum, the government’s ‘response’ to the Tomlinson Report, is expected to be published on 23 February 2005.
As the major national representative organisation for students in further education working through our affiliated students’ unions in the FE sector, we are pleased to respond to the interim report stage of the Tomlinson Working Group on 14-19 curriculum and qualification reform.
Please note: Tomlinson's final Report was published in November 2004. The Government did not request any responses as it will publish a White Paper on the 14-19 curriculum around about the date given above.
NUS’ long-term interest in widening access and broadening participation in lifelong learning for all learners requires a keen critical and evaluative interest in curriculum reform.
