Love without Borders Involvement Pack
Whilst the past 10 years in the UK have seen huge leaps forward for the LGBT community, particularly in terms of legislation, in many countries around the world LGBT citizens are persecuted, tortured and sometimes murdered simply for their sexual orientation or gender identity. Last year's NUS LGBT Conference mandated the officers and committee to work on international LGBT issues. This was done because of an increasing awareness amongst the LGBT community in Britain of our responsibility to use the freedoms and protections that we have won to fight for the rights of others.
We have produced an involvement guide for students and student officers who want to campaign on international LGBT rights, and the abuse of those rights in this country and abroad. The guide provides information about campaigning, international law, as well as tips for winning the arguments, case studies and much more, and can be downloaded in sections by clicking on the links below. We have also produced Love without Borders posters which you can order for free by e-mailing lgbt@nus.org.uk (orders may take up to three weeks).
We hope that you will take part in this campaign, and keep in touch with what you are doing on your campus. As ever, if you need any help getting a campaign going, please get in touch via the LGBT Officers:
