Hidden costs of FE research project

Please pass this invitation on to any interested students’ union reps.

money

NUS and LSN (Learning and Skills Network) are commissioning a major research project into the cost of studying in FE for students. Our aim is to produce a high quality and high impact piece of research that is valued and useful to students' unions, NUS, LSN and the sector at large. As part of the project we will be evaluating all the information currently available with regard to student costs as well as to conduct primary research to provide, for the first time, a complete picture of the cost of further education from the student's perspective.

As part of the project, we are looking to form a reference group for the researchers to consult. This reference group will be a mix of learners and experts from across the sector and we would be value your input immensely.

The reference group will meet three times. Although dates have yet to be confirmed, we expect one meeting in the week commencing 28 April and one at the end of June. Additionally there will be opportunities to feed in electronically at various points during the project. All transport costs to attend meetings, accommodation etc, will be met by NUS and your contribution will, of course, be acknowledged in the final report.

If you are interested in being involved, or would like more information, please email Beth Walker, Vice President (Further Education) or Robert Whitaker, NUS FE Policy Officer, alternatively, call 07976 562 577.
