Calling all college and Further Education students! Tell us what you think about your learning!

The Social Market Foundation, an independent public policy think-tank, has been commissioned by the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) to develop a "Vision for personalised learning" in the Learning and Skills Sector. We hope to find out what "personalisation" means to colleges, work based learning providers, employers and learners, and how we can improve the way it is delivered.

When we refer to "personalisation", we mean an opportunity for students to work in partnership with their colleges and other providers to tailor how, when, where and what they learn, according to their own needs. This is underpinned by a strong framework of pastoral support and information and guidance to help students make the best choices and develop as "expert learners" - self-motivated individuals who can manage their own learning independently and know how they learn best.

We want to hear the views of a wide range of students in the Learning and Skills Sector - those who attend all sorts of FE colleges, Adult Community and Sixth Form Colleges, to get an idea of their experiences in college and how "personalised" it is. If you are a student studying for a further education qualification we would really like to hear how much choice you think you have and how much support you receive. Your views will form part of our final report, which should help the government and colleges improve the way they cater to individual student's needs.

If you would like to contribute to our research, please follow the link below, which will take you to a short online questionnaire for you to fill out and email back to us at cwood@smf.co.uk
