Win for Students on Education Maintenance Allowance!
NUS and local students' unions have been campaigning extensively for students to be able to participate in student activities and student representation without losing their EMA, resulting in big results in the new guidelines for EMA's published recently!
Students who receive EMA will now be able to get time off without losing their allowance for "a provider representative meeting, for example, Governors' meeting" and for "National Union of Students official business".
We hope that this will make a real difference to FE students in every college.
Ellie Russell, NUS Vice President Further Education 06/07
