Preparing for a National Learner Panel

Amongst the recommendation of the FE White Paper was the creation of a National Learner Panel to "highlight issues of concern of learners to stakeholders in sector". Learners, through the National Union of Students", the Department of Education & Skills and the Learning Skills Council ran two events in June 2006, one in London and one in Leeds.

The events drew key stakeholders from across the Learning and Skills sector including the Association of Colleges, NIACE, DFES, OFSTED, CEL and the QIA. Most importantly a substantial amount of learners attended from backgrounds across the sector from private training providers, specialist colleges and from learner organisations including further education students unions.
