Liberation 2008 Part of the officer development summer training programme

Audience: All new sabbatical officers.
Course Aims and Objectives: This event is an open event for all officers from President to Commercial Services to provide a forum to explore the history and reasons about why liberation campaigns are essential in the fight for equality, to find out what Liberation campaigns do and why we do it, and how your union can get involved.
It is an essential for all new officers and an excellent opportunity to learn more about the four NUS Liberation Campaigns - the Black Students' Campaign, the Lesbian Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) Campaign, the Disabled Students Campaign and the Women's Campaign - why we exist and how you can facilitate the development of these campaigns locally.
The event consists of workshops, plenary sessions and a panel discussion with guest speakers from external organisations. Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions of the elected officers and their committees, and to be introduced to this coming year's campaigns and policies.
