Course outline
The course provides the necessary skills and understanding in handling a disciplinary or grievance issue. It focuses on the key activities in handling a problem or behavioural matter from the time it comes to their attention through the investigation, disciplinary hearing and decision taking to the appropriate penalty or warning. The process in handling grievances is also addressed in the same way.
It identifies areas where bias and discriminatory practices can creep in, and explains the necessity of ensuring consistency at each stage. It will also start to explore understanding about behaviour, attitudes and non-verbal communication in conflict situations. Current case law affecting the regulations will be discussed.
