Course outline
The course provides the necessary skills for the recruitment and selection process. It focuses on the key activities of a recruiter, starting from the point of having a vacancy through preparing the job and person specification, advertising, completing the shortlist, the interview and other selection processes, appointment and induction.
It identifies areas where bias and discriminatory practices can creep in and explains the benefits of monitoring and analysing statistical data. It will also start introducing techniques and understanding about behaviour, bias, attitudes and non-verbal communication.
The course will reflect the agreed policy and procedure in place or as approved at the National Union of Students, but highlight, if appropriate, where any reviews in current practice or actual policy may need to take place.
