Sister ACTivist Day - 11 February 2010The NUS Women’s Campaign will be running another Sister ACTivist Day on the 11 February in Birmingham, between 10:00am and 5.30pm.
Joining Instructions are here
The day will be packed with many sessions and workshops to choose from, so delegates will be able to pick and choose what workshops are best-suited to their needs. On the day, delegates will have the chance to:
- Learn tips on how to run successful feminist campaigns
- Practice how to win the arguments against sexism in your union
- Find out about the history of the women’s movement, learn about the big issues - and have the chance to questions
- Learn why women only space is important
- Get tips, and discuss, how to be a feminist officer
- Hear about the Violence Against Women Campaign
- Practical ways to ensure women from FE can engage in the women’s campaign
- Ensuring an inclusive campaign - workshops on engaging black women, trans inclusion, disabled women, student parents and carers and lgb women.
Unlike the previous two Sister ACTivist days, this Sister ACTivist Day will be open to all students who are interested in supporting the women’s campaign and won’t be restricted to self-defining women students.
The event will only cost £20 for students in Higher Education and £10 for students in Further Education. This is inclusive of lunch and some refreshments, which will be provided on the day. Talk to your Students’ Union about covering the cost.
