Sexual RevaLOOation
As part of the NUS SWD Priority Campaign Sexual RevaLOOation we are asking that Students’ Unions in Freshers Week hold Sexual RevaLOOation pub crawls- checking out the accessibility of student venues. The Free2Pee campaign was very successful last year but this year we want to go one step further. We want people to consider the fact that there are no sanitary products or condoms in accessible toilets. Does that therefore mean those women who use accessible toilets don’t have periods or that people who use accessible toilets don’t have sex or need to have protected sex? We will be campaigning for every Union to get condom and sanitary machines installed in their accessible toilets. If they are in the male and female toilets why not the accessible ones?
But before we start the campaign to get condom and sanitary products in accessible toilets we need to know how many Unions already have them or don't have them for us to be able to evaluate what impact the campaign is having. So now it is over to you. If you could go check out the accessible toilets in your union and institution and let us know if they have condom/sanitary product machines in that would be great. Email sian.davies@nus.org.uk If your union does not have them then start campaigning. Go to www.officeronline.co.uk/campaignsupport/swd/sexualrevalooation/271201.aspx to find out more info, for model motions etc. for your union council, execs etc. We would love to say that by the end of this year because of the Sexual RevaLOOation campaign that a number on accessible toilets at institutions across the country now have condom machines and sanitary products machines.
