Liberty - London disability rights festival
Trafalgar Square, Saturday 3 September 2005, 1pm – 6pm
Liberty is a free festival that champions the rights of disabled people and showcases the work of disabled artists and performers. The festival is organised by the Mayor of London in association with Greater London Action on Disability (GLAD) and with support from Attitude is Everything, Shape, Creative Routes and London Disability Arts Forum.
Liberty includes performances by:
- Blue Eyed Soul
Newly commissioned aerial performance “Touch/Don’t TOUCH” - Dead Beat International
Creative Routes present an incredible fusion of performance and music - Sign Dance Collective
A preview of a new exhilarating work “But Beautiful” combining sign dance, film and jazz - Besta Vista Social Club
Exuberant community based percussion and samba group - Caroline Parker
Sign Song Artist performing 70s songs from divas such as Barbra Streisand and Cher - Heart n Soul Club Posse
Straight from the heart of the legendary Beautiful Octopus Club, the Heart ‘n Soul Club Posse present their latest hits with special guests Mat Fraser and Minika Green - Minika Green
Liberty festival favourite Minika Green returns with songs from the musicals - Totlyn Jackson
Veteran Jamaican jazz vocalist and diva promises a scorching set accompanied by her band - Susan Hedges
Returning to Liberty with a new rock based set - The Way Ahead
