NUS SWD Love is... campaign

At the moment the Disability Discrimination Bill is working it’s way through parliament but we need your help to ensure that it goes through before the next general election. That is why we are running the Love is Campaign leading up to Valentine’s Day. We are asking you & your students to send your MPs Valentines Day Cards asking them to vote for the bill to ensure that it gets voted on before the election. We have got Valentine’s postcards to provide Unions with. If you would like some Love Is Campaigns please do get in touch.

NUS has got a campaign briefing giving you ideas & arguments to run a campaign & to get your students involved. We also have got a power point presentation for you to use in your Unions.

We are also asking that you & some of your students come down to the Houses of Parliament on February 3rd & lobby your MPs in person, asking them to vote for the disability discrimination bill but also to raise awareness of the issues that are facing students with disabilities in both Further & Higher Education.

All MPs can be contacted at the House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA. You can also telephone them on 020 7219 3000 then ask to be put through to their office.
