Wes Streeting is Vice-President (Education) of the National Union of Students, an elected position responsible for representing the needs and interests of more than five million students in Further and Higher Education across the UK.
Before taking up his current position in July 2006, Wes had been a member of the NUS National Executive Committee, with specific responsibility for liaising with the National Union of Teachers. Prior to joining the NUS, Wes served as President of Cambridge University Students' Union from 2004-5, after graduating with a bachelors degree in History from Selwyn College in 2004.
Wes is currently a member of the Burgess Steering Group and the Delivery Partnership Steering Group on admissions. He is also a Director of the Higher Education Academy and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education and is a board member of ESIB - the National Unions of Students in Europe.
Wes is an active member of the Labour Party and has led the Labour Students group in NUS since July 2005.
