As requested by many of the people I spoke to at Annual Conference and NUS Services Convention the following week, here's the speech I gave on the Wednesday evening of Annual Conference.

Steven Findlay, NEC, and President of Heriot-Watt – that’s in Edinburgh,

With reform on the cards for our national union, Conference,

We need to stop, collaborate and listen

I’m standing here with a brand new vision

The rule book’s got a hold of me tightly

I read our constitution daily and nightly

Will we get reform? Yo, I don’t know

Stop! – Election time

My, my, my, our governance hits me so hard

It makes me say “Oh my Lord”

What are we doing here?

A bureaucratic circus once a year

Conference called for change today

This committee’s members have a part to play

This should be a union, they can’t touch

I’ll bust out motions make our structures fair

Vote for Fin and the rule book get thinner
