NUS and "One Water" action for World Water Day
12/03/2007

Thursday is World Water Day (WWD). WWD is a global initiative by the UN to raise awareness of the fact that 1 billion people don't have access to clean water.

www.onewater.org.uk have got a wide range of media activity planned, not only to raise awareness of the issue, but also how One water is trying to help resolve this. The 'Switch for Africa' campaign will be communicated through the media in terms of the impact bottled water consumers would have if they switched to One water. It is the lead news story being released by the Press Association on the 22nd. Here's a quote from one of our supporters.....

“The ‘Switch for Africa’ campaign is being launched in support of the United Nations goal of halving water scarcity in Africa by 2015 and its target of providing indigent households with a minimum of 20 litres per person per day as a basic, legislated right and free for those too poor to afford it. It’s great to see a young and innovative company such as One water energetically support this goal using the power of market forces and consumer brands for such good.” Mark Malloch Brown, Former Deputy Secretary General, United Nations.

The attached pdf will give you a brief overview of what's happening this week. If you happen to be in London on Thursday around 10am, please do join www.onewater.org.uk at Covent Garden for a press photocall.

During the day www.onewater.org.uk will have a few special guests appearing, African dancers, plus will be screening a film called 'One water' which is being shown globally on the 22nd - www.onewater.org.uk are the UK part of that deal.

The website is being updated and will include some new films on the 'Projects we fund' page for those Clients who have been to Africa to oversee their installations. An e-shot will be released pre WWD (which you will also get) which covers some of the recent developments.

And last but not least, www.onewater.org.uk have got a special TV ad being launched today, as part of the WWD events.

It features the celebrities who appear on their bottles. If you aren't close to a TV at work, you can watch it (at a smaller size) on our homepage by clicking on the banner www.onewater.org.uk It's a stunning ad, (which forms part of a short film being released later this year) which was produced for practically nothing (other than a few tapes and lots of chocolate to keep the team going.....).

Spot times this week are as follows:
