PPL licensing in Students’ Unions

Until recently, all Students’ Unions and student organisations music use was exempt from PPL license fees, however this situation was altered through a revision to the Copyright Act that narrowed the exemption upon which Students’ Unions and other non-charitable organisations relied.

This document is designed to be an introduction to PPL and to provide some background to the organisation and the situation to date.
