1. Labour Students who are an autonomous affiliate to the Labour Party fighting for the government to be better for students and ensuring students and young people have a say in the direction of the Party. Labour students spoke against Top Up Fees at the Labour conference, had a policy against the Iraq War without UN resolution and is in favour of Coalition 2010. We are now working to resolve the current injustice of TV Licences in Halls of Residences for students.

2. AMICUS is my trade union, alongside UNISON which was my union while a member of Bars student staff at BUGS, these are both affiliated to the TUC.

3. Groups I join within the Labour Party to make them better are The Co-operative Party, Progressand most recently Compass.

4. Bugs was where I was President and obviously a student activist. WMANUS, who have a new website, was my Area where I served as a Network Officer before creating the Widening Participation Officer in the recent Exec Review.

5. MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY was the campaign of last year where Birmingham Students joined NUS Scotland in Edinburgh on the Demo. Wheelie Bins for Birmingham is the legacy campaign of the priority Housing and Accommodation campaign – a safe, secure and affordable home for every student – of my BUGS Presidency.

6. My family sports teams are Coventry City Football Club, where I still go with my Dad, Coventry Rugby Club – where I go with my Mum. My school friends and I regularly go to see our local team Watford FC and Saracens RFU who play at the same ground.

7. I am a proud member of the Labour Campaign for Lesbian and Gay Rights also known as LGBT Labour that campaigns for the government to be better for LGBT people, I am also proud of the work of Stonewall and AMICUS-LGBT.

8. Before the student movement I worked as a young person fighting for the rights of those in secondary and further education through my local youth forum, the British Youth Council and the UK Youth Parliament together we campaigned for Votes at 16 and successfully for National Minimum Wage for 16 and 17 year olds.

9. My most recent internet obsession is Facebook which is great for procrastination! Most importantly its where all the students are!!!

10. The environment is (rightly) rising to the top of the political agenda. SERA believes that environmental justice is essential for social justice and works to promote environmental policies within the Labour movement.. This should go with campaign for sustainable transport (see Transport 2000) and forming fair-trade co-operatives across the world (see Cooperatives UK and Fairtrade Foundation)
