This month seemed to start of pretty slowly until the NEC meting on the 5th, which seemed to drag and we didn’t get much discussed but people cared about the issues and that can only be a positive thing. I don’t know why but I always look forward to NEC meetings, you know that you will get twenty different perspectives on any issue, a long process and some intense discussion but it means that you can feel confident the ultimate conclusion was not rushed, was thought through and is the NEC’s perspective of what is best for students.
I then spent my time trying to speak to the rest of the Environmental Committee, to discuss and organise a newsletter for this term and continue making arrangements for Environment conference on the 27th.
There was an Environmental Campaign meeting on the 18th, as well as priority campaigns meeting, all in NUS HQ. I went to Coventry on the 21st to meet with Julian Nicholds and work out which organisations we had speaking at Environmental Conference and step up the pressure on the organisations that had not got back to us for the following week. The week after on the 26th, after lectures I got on a train (an hour late as usual) from Birmingham New Street to Oxford, Julian Joined me at Coventry and we made our way into Oxford. On Wednesday the 27th we had a really amazing turnout at Environmental Conference, and a really good day. I must just say thanks here to all those who helped arrange the conference, both at NUS and Oxford Brookes and thanks to all those who came to the conference. It was really great to be surrounded by enthusiastic officers and students who care about the campaign’s issues.
