Vital Statistics

Saw this in Teesside’s students newspaper to introduce the Exec when I was sent it so thought I may as well do something similar.

Name: Martin Charles Luke Ings

Age: Just turned 25 – it hurt

Born: Blackpool on 14/10/1979

Height: 5 foot 10 ish

Weight: Data unavailable. Okay just over 15 stone but know this when I was elected in March 2002 as President of Teesside I only weighed 12 stone 4!

Raised: A market town called Kirkham which is half way between Preston and Blackpool in Lancashire. Lived in the same house my entire life and miss it loads.

Family: Mum, Dad, Our Gavin and Our Kid. Oh and me. Love them loads and always stay in touch.

Significant Others: Never understood the term significant others? Who going to admit to have more than one person on the go? Surely it should be significant other.

Significant Other: Beth Huntbach is my beautiful girlfriend from Cheltenham and is Education and Welfare officer at Teesside. Love her loads and she is my rock this year but don’t see her anywhere near as much as I’d like – one down side of being on the NEC. She claims to love me back and displays it by sending me a lifesize cardboard cut out of herself that now resides in my office on her orders for all to see in an attempt to embarrass me.

Clarification: I don’t have more than one person on the go – I was just making the point that the English seems odd. Just thought I should clear that up.

Education: Catholic all the way from primary school through to College. Then on to Teesside Uni to study Sport and Exercise Science with Criminology – Don’t ask.

Star Sign: Libra. Can’t be doing with horoscopes though – complete waste of time. I am sure next week I am going to be rich, in love, find a new friend, win the lottery and someone in red is going to make me an offer I cannot refuse. Thing is everyone else will be too – I’m sure they just rotate the statements.

Favourite...

Food: Too many to name. Italian is my favourite stlye but me Mums Chicken and breadcrumbs is a top dish as well and I am ace at toast once I have figured out how to get the settings right that make the toast pop up perfectly in one go.

Colour: Blue

Drink: Pint of Carling Premier – don’t seem to do it anywhere anymore except in my home town.

Film: Have to say Star Wars as I grew up on it but love films. Got millions.

Book: Just finished the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown – Awesome. Really liked the Wasp Fcatory by Iain Banks, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and It’s not about the bike by Lance Armstrong too.

Band: Oasis – play the guitar. Really can’t sing but do it anyway to annoy others.

Dislike: People shouting down mobile phones on trains, the rain, Man Utd with a passion, fruit and vegetables, womens magazines, rent prices in London and being constantly skint.

Meet one person dead or alive who’d it be: Jesus without a doubt.

Aim for the Year: I have many but the major one is obviously NUS Extra. I won’t rehearse the arguments here!
