22/11/2004

Hello all,

I must admit the idea of putting links up that give you an idea of the person I am is quite exciting. When I was told it should be about my political beliefs I became less excited as the politically based NEC members will have you believe that as an independent I have no politics and as such don’t understand it.

So in true Ingsie style I have decided to put my favourite websites up here and true to form not a political one in sight (or is that site – do you see what I did?!). Maybe the factions have a point...

Anyhow here goes...

www.peterkay.co.uk
I love this guy. People tell me sound like him but really I don’t. However people say I’m about the same size which unfortunately is true. Phoenix nights is true. Anyone form the North West at least will be able to show you their local Phoenix club. Mine was the Willows Club in Kirkham. Loads of oldies drinking a pint of mild that costs threpence and debating as a committee which act they should have on next week after the meat bingo. I love the place and I love Peter Kay.

I have always said that I am a big footy fan. Then when I say I’m a Man City fan people say that I can’t really be a fan of football. It’s a tough world. Shaun Goater is a hero of mine – he has his own bank holiday and road in Bermuda where he is worshipped almost as much as he was on the Kippax. He was the expert at scoring with random parts of his body have the time I don’t think he paid attention but just stood in the box and watched the ball deflect of his chest, thigh or arse into the top corner. I am a fully fledged member of the Shaun Goater appreciation society though haven’t checked out the site for ages. Looking forward to European qualification once again – via the fair play league and I want to see Giorgiou Kinkladze return to City for one last season.

www.educationet.org
Come on everyone own up. I read it to catch up on gossip – its great. My favourite game is ‘guess which NEC member really wrote that?’ Never post and that is the honest truth and don’t spend too much time on it but do read the message board now and again and not afraid to admit it.

www.oasis.net
Massive Oasis fan. Been into them since I was a nipper using jumpers for goalposts on the back field when playing ‘cupee’s’ (you remember the days – ‘I’ll be Gary Lineker’ said one, I’ll be Bryan Robson’ said another – ‘I’ll be Uwe Rosler’ said Martin –‘who’ said everyone else’). Used to be the kid in school who got the adidas tracky top first and some adidas samba’s before they were cool thus making me really cool. Well that was the plan anyway! Then the Liam cut followed but it went a bit wrong which is a story in itself.

www.planetfootball.com
Miss so much football in this job when working at the weekend that sometimes I have to catch up on it all on the web. This is the site I usually go on but not been on for a while.

www.amazon.com
There goes another months wages. My biggest vice other than beer and food is video’s and dvd’s. I own about 350ish built up over my 5 years at Teesside and my short stint thus far in NUS. There is nothing better than going home, getting into bed with a beer and a pizza and sticking a film on after a tough days work. Pity I don’t get to do it that much. Got all the classics from Casa – ‘frankly my dear I don’t give a damn’ – blanca to The Untouchables and less revered but equally good ones such as LA Confidential, In the Name of the Father, Stand By Me and the original Batman - ‘Holy toast’! I’m a sucker for collections so if there is a trilogy to be had I have got it and have all the Bond films – he’s the man.

www.police.uk
Always wanted to be in the Police since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Check it out now and again to keep up with the news and recruitment as one day I think I would still like to do it. Can you picture me as a police officer? Answers on a postcard.

www.google.com
You can see I am running out of ideas now can’t you? Top site – finds me everything I need to in a flash.

www.nusonline.co.uk and www.officeronline.co.uk
On them everyday so can hardly not include them. A huge amount of resources that are relevant to almost all Unions. The more you look the more you find. Hope you use them as much and let us know if we can improve them.

www.nussl.co.uk
Again, use it everyday I am in the office practically. A massive resource with everything you’ll ever need for the commercial side of your Unions. Use it.
