October
Most importantly for me I found myself a place to live and moved in on the 2nd which was great because up until that point I had spent most of my time staying on floors at my brothers and mates houses and for a couple of weeks round at some old uni friends house. I cannot say how much of a relief it was as you only realise how important your own space is when you go without it for ages while doing a stressful job.
In the first week we had an NEC meeting. The biggest thing about the meeting to me was a presentation from Ian King about his thoughts on the organisation so far most of which you will get to see at Regionals. Very interesting, very worrying but absolutely accurate. However we do want to and need to sort it out now. I went on to Macclesfield for a Finance and Resources Committee meeting on the Wednesday. I was off from Friday to the 21st which I needed as I went away with Beth to Corfu for a relaxing but wet holiday.
Upon my return I visited Bristol University with Ian King to speak with the GM, President and Treasurer about NUS and NUSSL and generally agreed with a lot of what they had to say and told them we want the organisation to change as much as they do but we need member support. I then went off to Macclesfield again for the Board meeting before another Sunday at Stoneleigh to catch up and plan with Kat, James, Ian and Martyn. On Tuesday was our third NUS Card meeting which was in Macclesfield.
