| 20 August 2007 Still in the planning stages of the year, I have been almost totally planning for the year ahead since our last meeting on 22 July. Here’s a run down of what I’ve been up to since we last met: Pro Choice I am still working on the new materials – trying to get to the most effective wording for the poster and leaflet especially. I have also been working on our list of target MPs (either for lobbying or picketing) and correlating them with Unis and Colleges (this took longer than you might think!). I’ve met with Abortion Rights again to make sure that we are up to date with eachother's actions. Representation I have knocked up a DRAFT possible plan for the Representation campaign that we decided to run. This is up for full discussion at the next WomCom. Childcare Since our last meeting I have put together a proposal for the Welfare Campaign Zone based on what we decided at our last meeting about how we thought best to proceed with this work. This has been accepted by the Zone which means that we are going to be working together – and sharing the costs of the childcare work between us (women’s campaign and welfare campaign). I have also met with NIACE (our potential research partners) who seemed extremely keen to proceed with some joint research. They agreed with our idea of doing some primary case-based indicative research and using this to lobby for funding for empirical national research. SVAW/ RCTN North I have held the first meeting to discuss the RCTN North demo – at which there were several full and part time women’s officers. Further update at committee meeting. The text and vague design idea for the harassment posters comes before committee for approval. Work inequality I have passed a policy at NEC, with Beth Walker and James Alexander bringing together some of our key work demands (pay audits, and the equalisation of the NMW) with some other age related stuff. The Society and Citizenship Zone and the Further Education Zone will now be working on a joint campaign – including many of our campaign demands from the Women’s Campaign (see attached policy). Single Equalities Bill I sent a paper round to Women’s Committee about the Discrimination Law Review – with a list of things I suggest we include in our response, and a list of research that we need. I am still in the ongoing process of searching for that research and stats. Liberation In Every Union! Well, I am happy to say that the printed bits of this pack are done and have now been sent to print! Yay. I am still sorting out the web-based full pack. It will definitely be ready for Freshers!! It’s going to look something like this:
