The Gender Equality Duty comes into action on 6th April 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s a MASSIVE opportunity for you to force your University/College to make changes that will change the lives of women students and staff.

The Duty says that not only is it illegal to discriminate (obviously) but that now organisations in the Public Sector have to take ACTIVE STEPS to reduce and tackle sexism!

NUS have produced a local lobby guide and briefing on the Gender Duty so that you can use the new legislation as a tool for much needed change in your institutions.

And this legislation and lobby isn’t just for Women’s Officers to take on – it’s a really big deal that effects more than half of your students probably. Whether you are a President, Welfare Officer, Sports Officer or Women’s Officer you can take on a role in making sure that in the Education Sector we milk the Gender Duty for all it’s worth!
