I’m really excited about an event that I have heard about but as yet not had the privilege of attending. It comes highly recommended to me by Jo my predecessor, and also lots of other women in NUS and that is Capital Woman an “inspiring, entertaining and informative event for London’s women.”
Having heard about the event before, I am really pleased to be able to say that I am supporting the event that this year looks set to be awesome. The event touches on all parts of women’s lives, and really does look like there is something for everyone.
As well as providing an opportunity to question the Mayor of London the day will have workshops, practical demonstrations, exhibitions, entertainment plus much more.
If you are interested in sport there will a discussion about the future of the Olympic bid, for those interested in transport you will have the chance to talk directly to the person in charge of the underground, there will be information about Tour de-France, debt advice counselling, a focus on climate change and the environment, comedy, films, cookery, knitting, business advice, much to do, all under one roof – and to top all that off, the event is free. Don’t just take my enthusiasm for it as evidence, you should come along and find out for yourself.
For more information on the event visit www.london.gov.uk/capitalwoman and if you are planning on attending and don’t want to go it alone, drop me an email – I will be going, and lots of other women I know too – so come along with us for what looks to be a fun-filled, action packed, brilliant day out in London.
