| Demonstrate on Sunday 10 December On Sunday December 10th – the week of the 58th anniversary of the UN Genocide Convention – a second Global Day for Darfur will be held. People, including thousands of students, will gather in cities around the world to put pressure on governments to protect civilians from genocidal violence in Darfur and to denounce the use of rape and sexual violence by the Government of Sudan and it's militias. On September 17th this year tens of thousands of people in over 40 countries took part in the first Global Day for Darfur. Students across the UK promoted the event, mobilised activists, and helped to make the UK demo a success. Women in Darfur need your help again. The public response was good from the 17th September, but still more needs to be done. You can find more details at www.globefordarfur.org
London Demonstration and March At 10.30 am on Sunday 10th December outside the Sudanese Embassy in London (3 Cleveland Row, St James’s SW1A 1DD) demonstrators will gather to hear speeches given by prominent women speakers. At 11.20 a march will leave from the Sudanese Embassy and go through Central London to Downing Street on Whitehall, for 12 noon. There will be a ‘minute of noise’ as 250 rape alarms are set off (earplugs provided) as a symbolic gesture in support of the women and girls who have been raped and sexually assaulted in Darfur. Please come along to support them. Direct your friends to this webpage. The more people who show their support, the more impact we can make.
