| I was born Kansas, USA (like the Wizard of Oz), moved to Canada, moved to Scotland, and then moved to England. I was at the University of Warwick and studied Film and TV where I properly discovered a word for what I believed….feminism! I was always involved in the Union at Warwick and got elected as Societies and Student Development Officer for 2004-05. IT WAS THE DREAM. During that year, I became really involved in the work of the NUS, and in Warwick Union’s democratic side and loved it so I ran for President. That’s what I was doing last year. In fact I was only the 5th female President of Warwick Union in 40 years. I ran for Women’s Officer last year because I wanted to build this movement, and also because I felt that I had something a bit different to offer the NUS Women’s Campaign. Anyway, for a full rundown of ‘my record’ you can visit my election campaign website at www.katstark.org (you can also check out my manifesto pledges there). I am here to lead the NUS Women’s Campaign and I am here for women students. I am also more than happy for men students to contact me, as well as external organisations of course!
