LBT Day
28/02/2005

All through January and the beginning of February I was preparing for LBT women’s day a day open to all self defining Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans Women. It was held at Bradford Uni and I’d like to thank all the people at Bradford Uni that helped make the day possible - Hattie, Sarah, Fran, Claire and everyone else.

The day was one of the best days I’ve been to. I don’t mean that in a big headed way, what I mean is that the atmosphere was incredible. There was healthy debate and I felt like everyone was there because they all wanted to make a difference. Everyone was constructive and unusually for an NUS event no bad words were spoken.

There was one hick-up on the day and that was that the forms that got sent from NUS did not get delivered so I would like to request that royal mail change the name of the next day delivery service to the might be next day delivery service if you’re lucky.

Thank you to everyone that came along and made it such a great day I’ll keep in touch and hopefully I’ll see you all at summer conference. Remember that if you have any problems just give me a call.

We also had the first committee meeting of 2005 which was a good one as well. It was held in York Uni, thanks to John for that, and was generally just a nice day. It was the shortest ctte meeting that I can recall but I don’t know if it’s good of bad quite a few of the ctte didn’t make it to York which was disappointing.

January was quite a good month for the LGB campaign all of our blood service campaign materials and briefings were completed and sent out. You should have received a pack at your union by now with loads of NUS LGB campaign materials, if you haven’t try to follow it up in your union. If you still don’t receive it give me a call on 07976005315. I’ll run off a list of some of what was in the mailing or else it may take a while: Blood Service Briefing, Blood Service Poster, Trans Briefing, Trans Postcards, Contact Postcards, Employment Rights leaflet, notice of our lobby of parliament which is taking place on and probably more important than all of the above - the order form for all of the above and more.

This bit is gonna be about me so skip this paragraph if you really don’t give a damn. I’m currently on my work placement for my degree and finding the combination of a professional qualification course, a full time degree course and NUS quite difficult. I’m quite ridiculously loved up and she’s managing to put up with me which I praise anyone for doing for longer than a day! That’s it really.
