| May 22nd – 28th • Management team meeting • Attended Adult Learners Awards at Queen Elizabeth 11 Conference Centre, London • Took Gemma up to Cheltenham as part of the Endsleigh handover • Meeting with the Learning and Skills Council • NUS/USI bilateral in London • Meeting with Barry Sherman Chair of the Education and Skills Select Committee re our FE agenda • NATFHE Conference. Another weekend and bank holiday spent in the Norbreck Castle Blackpool! May 29th - 4th June • Spent Bank Holiday Monday in Blackpool at the last ever NATFHE Conference • Tuesday was National Council in Loughborough and despite best efforts it was inquorate – most frustrating • 2 days of UNISON • Spoke at the UCU rally outside UCEA’S offices on the 1st • Following Sian’s leaving drinks I somehow managed to overcome enough of my hangover to catch a train down to the Eden Project where I appeared on Radio 4’s ‘Any Questions’ 5th – 11th June • Meeting with John Grogan MP about the upcoming Charities Bill • Student Volunteering England gold awards • NUS staff meeting – there are full staff meetings 2 times a year • BBC meeting • Attended the first ministerial standing group on FE. These are going to become regular events, probably 4/5 times a year and bring together all the major organisations working in FE. This being the first, we mainly discussed our role in the implementation of the FE white paper • Headed straight from there to the first of the QIA’s Annual Conferences • Attended the official launch of the UCU the University and College Union • 2 days at UNISON • Spent the weekend at AMICUS Conference in Scarborough where I addressed the Education Sector on the impact of top up fees – they also decided to join Coalition 2010 12th – 18th June • NUSSL board meeting • AHRC reception • QIA Finance Committee • QIA Board meeting • 2 days at UNISON
