| - Women’s Conference – my last. The first role I ever has in the National Union was FE rep on Women’s; Committee – back in 1998! I thoroughly loved my time as National Women’s Officer and was glad that I managed to clear my diary to be there for the first two days. As ever great debates, and huge congratulations to Kat Stark Women’s Officer Elect as well as her new committee. I know that the campaign is going to go from strength to strength under her leadership. Sadly I missed Jo’s leaving speech – I trust she will blog it???
- Alongside NATFHE, a member of my staff team and I gave evidence to the Education and Skills Select Committee Wednesday Morning. We discussed Foster, Learner Voice, EMA, the potential white paper, workforce developments and other topics.
- Held a Conference Call with a number of the UK Trade Unions.
- Attended NUS Conference Chairs training – a highlight of the NUS training programme – Really enjoyed it, got me in the mood for conference and look forward to building our ‘chairs team’.
- Thursday should have been management team meeting – but I think that the continuous lack of sleep and large amounts of pressure finally told, I had the morning off and left management team in Gem’s capable hands.
- Saturday – I should have been speaking at the stop the war demo – but for a number of reasons I couldn’t make it, which was very disappointing – and spent Saturday night typing up this blog – again – oh the glamour.
- Sunday will be spent with the FE crew – white paper and all, and writing this months Guardian article – which I suspect will be on industrial action.
