- Meeting with the Blackpool police and Winter Gardens manager to discuss arrangements for the upcoming national conference.

Chaired the AGM for Plymouth University SU, a remarkably civilised event. Followed by hustings for their ‘global officers’.

Spent the day leafleting for the Surrey referendum on NUS membership. Which we won. Another great frustration about the NEC is so many of theirs unwillingness to volunteer for referendums, seeing that as someone else’s responsibility, whilst it is often the busiest who manage to re-organise their diaries.

Congratulations to Sian Davies, who got re-elected to SWD Officer, hurrah, don’t know what I’d do without her.

NUS’ annual reception, this event was held in parliament and was geared to meeting key decision-makers. We also took the opportunity to formally launch the education manifesto, which has already gained lots of support, to add your name or read the document please search this site.

Mtg with the NUS trustees, who hold some of the organisations assets, in this case the land registry for Holloway Road. The two trustees I met with Fred Jarvis and Mauve Sherlock, both former national presidents gave me a grilling over the building sale etc and I updated them on the organisation as a whole. Then they officially signed the necessary documents meaning 461 Holloway Road no longer belongs to the national union!

Spent Friday night driving to NUS Wales for their Spring Confernce. Presented the ‘State of the Union’ update. Lots and lots of elections which took a long long time, which meant that with that a variety of public transport problems meant I didn’t make it to the UAF conference which was disappointing. Congratulations to every one who won an election especially James Knight who was re-elected President and Sarah Brown (who’s ace) to DP.

Women’s Conference compositing remarkably civilised and not at all like I remember it used to be, when it happened the night before conference started and took as long as it took. I didn’t finish one year until well-gone 1am. Still not the best way to spend a Sunday.
